In Support of Local Independent Media

Note: This is a comment on ellie's "Media" post by vpozzebon that I felt should be seen by all - Chad

Let’s go beyond canned music, loud car commercials, and national ad campaigns. Let’s talk about the real reason losing independent media is a community concern.

Independent media is the voice of a community. It can tell the locals’ story, providing an opportunity that many small businesses and nonprofit organizations can’t get from a media corporation. Without an outlet to tell our stories, to let our community have a voice, we lose the opportunity to strengthen our community.

Media Consolidation Panel at the Santa Fe Brewing Company

Have you been hearing rumors around town about a takeover and consolidation of radio stations KWRP, KLBU, KBAC? Maybe you've also heard that KSFR is going to switch channels. Wondering why? Then come to the Santa Fe Brewing Company out on the patio this Saturday for a panel discussion about the consolidation of media that is threatening Santa Fe as well as other cities across the country.
