The Smiths - Meat Is Murder turns 25 on...Valentines Day?

Image of Meat Is MurderIt's a Friday night, just finished listening to the Valentines IGD special, the Olympics are probably on, and I just now realized I am wearing my last SMITHS tee that isn't, well, too gross to still wear (a familiar pic, backstage I believe, taken during the Morrissey hearing-aid period). Dang, now I REALLY feel old.

Meat Is Murder , the Smiths second longplayer was released February 14th, 1985. This is one of the biggest reasons my parents worried about me during my formative years (the Morrissey on a picnic blanket poster in my room didn't help).

I was, and still count myself, a rabid Smiths fan. I spent some ridic amount of cash on the import edition of Meat Is Murder after I realized that the vinyl copy I already owned was not PURE...!!! The bands American label changed the cover AND added "How Soon Is Now" cuz, well, it was the big hit. No - I needed to own it as the band intended. That prized possession became irreplaceable when Moz himself scribbled his signature across the iconic cover art (that he designed).

Dig it out this weekend, as I will be, and play it end to end. Dont own it? Well then - think we just figured out what you should get for V-day.
