RIP - Willy DeVille

Just got word of Willy passing on...

PUNK PIONEER WILLY DEVILLE DIES (8/10/09)
Willy DeVille, aka William Borsey, founder of influential New York City punk group Mink DeVille passed away from pancreatic cancer at New York's Cabrini Hospital on Thursday (8/6). He was 58. 

Mink DeVille was the house band at the legendary CBGB club in Greenwich Village in the late 70s. Although better known in Europe, Mink Deville's "Venus of Avenue D" , "Spanish Stroll", and "Italian Shoes" became U.S. FM radio standards in the 70s and 80s. DeVille went solo starting in 1980. His "Storybook Love," featured in the 1987 movie The Princess Bride, was nominated for an Academy Award.
