Indiesf back "on the radio" or in the car? Could happen....
Nothing makes us smile more then when we get email from folks that go out of their way to listen to Indiesf at home - like those that have laptops hooked up to the stereo system or other bizarre configurations that involve long lengths of patch cords.
We would love for you to be able to listen to Indiesf in the car again (currently the only place you really cant tune into the fine Indie stream) but internet enabled car stereos are just on the horizon. Just know that, when this happens, Indiesf wont change one digital bit. We work HARD to be your alternative to the recycled "same songs scrambled in a different order day to day" playlists that currently litter the airwaves, (and some peoples personal music players I understand). Anyhoo, I digress, read on (courtesy of R & R)...
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Blaupunkt and miRoamer announced plans to manufacture Internet-enabled car stereos designed specifically for the dashboard. Two units debuted at CES, the New Jersey 600i and the Hamburg 600i, and will be rolled out as built-in original equipment.
miRoamer, a subsidiary of Australia's Mi Media Holdings Limited, is an online portal to Internet radio stations worldwide which allows listeners to access music from more than 16,000 Internet radio stations from over 200 companies. The technology also gives users the ability to browse genres or stations, customize preferences at miroamer.com and add media it does not offer by adding the URL to their favorites.
"The beauty of Internet car radio is the customized user experience," said miRoamer founder and CEO George Parthimos. "Today, users want to jump in their car and go -- no pulling out third-party devices or plugging in cords to access their music and information. miRoamer's development with Blaupunkt is the first seamless Internet radio solution."
