Indie SF...The Revolution Isn't On The Radio

The Tanks Roll In

Of all the music that has come through the doors of Indie (or across the wires, these days) Tanks by Nathan Moore leaves a mark each time it is played. We have great music that offers nostalgic melodies or lyrics which speak to familiar times, but this one strikes at the soul of our core every time it plays. It is a reminder of why we do this.

Some question why we continue to stream after losing our signal. We ourselves question it upon occasion. Some say it's out of a stubborn streak and there is truth to that. Some might say it's because we play music that other stations don't or won't. We undoubtably have some of the best jocks in the area - the Independent Get Down and Hardgroove's Fusebox, alone would be worth continuing the stream.

But it is more than that.

All of us at Indie believe in an idea that radio should be an expression of an individual and a community. We believe that radio can and should offer more to the listener. A handful of commercial stations still offer unique formats these days, but they are becoming fewer and fewer. While the whoring of the commercial aspect is nothing new, the idealism of radio has been lost in the recent years since my childhood. My father's memories of radio even more so.

Media informs our ideas and opinions, our values and our beliefs. It reflects and influences our culture through arts and entertainment. Radio is a unique media that can be personalized. It is a personal connection to these aspects of a community.

Nathan Moore, a Frogville artist that Santa Fe has had the pleasure of calling it's own, if even for a short time, is an example of what we are proud to offer. We take pride in playing local and regional artists alongside national and international acts. Nathan's songwriting is an example of a personalized message which reflects the feelings of a community.

While we wait, along with hundreds of organizations across the US, for the FCC to sift through applications, we continue to stream for the Santa Fe Community and Northern New Mexico. We will return to offering up information from locally owned businesses and raising awareness of local organizations and news of community events. We look forward to your continued input and feedback. For those of you tune in from elsewhere on the globe, and we are glad you do, we hope you will gather a sense of our unique home from this information.

Thank you for continuing to listen. If so inclined, spread the word that we are online and continuing to do what we do and please take the time to thank and support our sponsors.

Until the music stops...
