Listening to the Stream
Select your preferred music player under the "Now On Air" list at the upper-right corner of the page.
From Your Laptop or Desktop
If clicking on one of those links doesn't open the player, try installing one of the following free players:
- WinAmp (Windows)
- Windows Media Player (Windows)
- iTunes (Mac/Windows)
- Amorok (Linux)
Installation should configure the player automatically. Once installed, try the corresponding button.
From Mobile Devices
Listeners with phones powered by Google Android have recommended the StreamFurious app available in the Android Market.
Listeners on Apple iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches can listen in with the built-in Quicktime player or pickup a free/cheap player like FStream or Radio app from the iTunes App Store. We list a few other iPhone apps here.
Blackberries should play our iTunes/WinAmp/Amarok stream link natively. If your Blackberry doesn't, you might try FlyCast for the Blackberry, depending on your model.

Where Should I Buy My Music?
If you're new to purchasing music online, you should do some research before getting started. What you use to play your music is probably the most important factor to consider when choosing where to purchase music online (CD player, iPod, MP3 player, 8-track, Victrola). If you prefer CDs, purchase music played on IndieSF.com through Amazon.com.
Purchasing Music with "Buy" Links
We provide BUY buttons on our playlists to help you purchase the great music you hear on IndieSF.com. The buy buttons provide direct artist and album links at selected online music retailers. All transactions are handled securely through the retailers web site. Some artists played on IndieSF.com may not be available. Local artists, rare recordings, and yet unreleased tracks are a few examples of music that may be difficult to find. If you're having trouble with the BUY buttons, take a look at the following.
Amazon.com
Clicking on the Amazon.com logo will take you directly to their web site. You should see search results for the artist you clicked. Scroll through the list to find the album you'd like to purchase.
iTunes Music Store
To purchase music from the iTunes Music Store, you must have iTunes installed. iTunes is free and available for both Macs and PCs from Apple. Clicking on iTunes buy links in your web browser should launch the iTunes player and load the Music Store. If it does not, please review the appropriate web browser specific help. Regardless of which web browser you use, you must have iTunes installed on your computer. Download and install iTunes for Mac or PC.
Configure Firefox to Open iTunes Music Store Links
- In Firefox's location bar, type "about:config" (without quotes)
- Type "itms" into the filter bar, this should shorten the list of options
- Find the preference named "network.protocol-handler.external.itms", it's value column is probably set to false
- Double click on the word "false" to change it's value to "true"
If you do not see the "network.protocol-handler.external.itms" option, do the following to add the option:
- Right-click (Mac: Control + click) on the list
- Select "New -> Boolean" from the menu
- Enter (or copy and paste) "network.protocol-handler.external.itms" (without quotes) in the Enter the preference name dialog and click
- Select "true" from the list iTunes links in our site should now work.
