***Updated : RIP Vic Chestnutt AND frmr Cardinals guitarist Chris Feintstein

Its Saturday night and I just heard about Vic Chestnutts passing. The more I read, the more I feel he was yet another victim of our broken healthcare system. This is from the HuffPost:

Chesnutt slipped into a coma after taking a large dose of prescription muscle relaxants. He died in Athens, Georgia, on Christmas Day. Since being in a car accident as a teenager in 1983, Chesnutt was only mobile in a wheelchair.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Chesnutt faced $70,000 in hospital bills, a subject he brought up in a Pop & Hiss interview earlier this month "I was making payments, but I can't anymore and I really have no idea what I'm going to do. It seems absurd they can charge this much. When I think about all this, it gets me so furious. I could die tomorrow because of other operations I need that I can't afford. I could die any day now, but I don't want to pay them another nickel."

Chris Feinstein, bass guitarist for Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, has been found dead in his New York apartment. Cause of death has yet to be determined. The veteran musician joined Ryan Adams' band in 2006, replacing Catherine Popper on bass guitar. As a member of The Cardinals, he played on Easy Tiger (Lost Highway), Follow the Lights (Lost Highway) and Cardinology (Lost Highway). Prior to The Cardinals, Feinstein recorded with Jack Ingram and Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., among others. He also produced on the I am Sam film soundtrack. Feinstein was 42.
