Earth Day and Our Pledge

In honor of Earth Day 2008, we here at IndieSF pledge not to "litter" the internet landscape with predictable, overplayed music and, instead, burn clean creative "energy" that produces a new listening experience unlike anything on terrestrial radio.

We also promise not to "infill" with banal and uninspired hosts that seem to say and do the same things on the air day to day. We're not just some "recycled" internet jukebox , We're a small group of folks that believe in well put together, "non-disposable" music sets.

Enjoy our unique brand of "alternative energy." We are IndieSF - Online and Unrestricted !

Obsolete Formats, Bike Parts, and Replacements

It's getting warmer and I figured it was time to get the bikes ready for another season. Lets see...one has needs two tubes and the other has a bad rear sprocket. I decided it would be easier to get the sprocket fixed first ( as replacing tubes just isn't fun ) so I removed it and took it to the shop.

Turns out, this bike has parts made by a company that is no longer in business. I should note that this bike is about 15 years old. Luckily, this shop doesn't throw much away and had a sprocket in the secret stash that will work. This all got me to thinking about how quickly (and I realize 15 years is not "quick") things go obsolete and out of fashion.

James Iggy Osterberg

I have recently completed a new bio on Iggy Pop and, quite honestly, wonder how he is still with us today. The new tome, Open Up And Bleed, is a well written and easy to follow account of James earnest beginnings. The writing was on the wall for even the young Osterberg - he was able to overcome the personal embarrassment of living with his parents in a trailer park to become "one of the most likely to succeed" throughout his school years, impressing those who crossed his path with his intellect, charm, and overall drive.
